According to this funny bit of backstory, Wile E. Coyote’s father told him he wasn’t allowed to speak until he finally caught the Road Runner. That makes his endless silent chases even funnier, because every failed ACME trap isn’t just another loss it’s also another day of being unable to say a single word. After all these years, the poor guy is still chasing the Road Runner… and apparently still waiting for permission to talk.
