Eyewitness News' Liz Cho will host the annual, Emmy Award-winning WABC-TV special "Breakthroughs for Breast Cancer" on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 12:30 p.m. on Channel 7.
The special discusses an incredible advancement in mammograms, using an iodine-based contrast dye to find up to four times as many cancers in dense breasts as a standard mammogram.
The Contrast Enhanced Mammography could also end up costing less than a 3D mammogram, taking less time, and catching cancer earlier.
The new kind of mammogram, offered to a New York woman, made all the difference in catching her breast cancer in its earliest stage.
Plus, a stunning new high-tech robotic surgery is transforming the lives of breast cancer patients, even decades after their mastectomies.
Lymphedema can be one of the most troublesome and uncomfortable conditions for women who've had lymph nodes removed.
Now, surgeons can reattach tiny lymphatic vessels in the arm and reverse the condition.
