I mean I GET it, but should toilets REALLY operate like this?
Public robotoilets with a built-in timer have have hit the streets of New York City - and if you’re not done with your business in under 10 minutes, the whole world gets to see what you’re doin in there
They’re officially called “Throne” bathrooms - and when you enter, a timer starts to count down until an automated voice chimes in saying “Attention: Your use time has expired. The door is opening now” before sliding the door open to the public - regardless of whether you’re finished, let’s call it, dumping your copy of bloodborne, if you will
The idea’s to disincentivise people from occupying the things for extended periods of times - and since there’s so few public restrooms available to people in the city to begin with, the addition of around 17 more of these things coming up could be a bigger deal than you might expect
Thrones are solar powered glorified porta-potties, too, since they’re not actually connected to the sewer system - and if someone DOES decide to stand their ground and not leave, actual workers will get notified and work with local police to remove them from the funky box
