Jaime Munguia Vs. Canelo Alvarez | HIGHLIGHTS #boxing #sports

🥊 FIGHT DESCRIPTION:

Canelo Alvarez walked into T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with all four super middleweight world titles on the line—and walked out still undisputed. The Mexican superstar shut down Jaime Munguia by unanimous decision, once again proving why he remained the division’s ultimate gatekeeper.

Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs), 33, improved to 10-1 on Cinco de Mayo weekend, with his lone defeat coming against Dmitry Bivol in their 2022 clash for the WBA light heavyweight championship. The victory marked the fourth successful defense of his WBC, WBO, IBF, and WBA super middleweight titles, extending his record for the most undisputed championship defenses in the four-belt era to four.

Munguia (43-1, 34 KOs), 27, came forward fearless and made the early rounds competitive, but once Alvarez found his rhythm, the fight began slipping firmly out of Munguia’s hands. Canelo’s accuracy, composure, and punishing offense gradually took control, leaving Munguia unable to match the champion’s level. The defeat ended Munguia’s unbeaten professional run after he had stopped eight of his previous 10 opponents, including a ninth-round TKO over John Ryder in January.

The showdown also made history. For the first time, two fighters born in Mexico battled for an undisputed championship, and it became the first super middleweight title fight between two Mexican-born fighters. It also marked the first world title fight ever featuring two Mexican-born fighters above 160 pounds—a historic night that ultimately belonged to Canelo Alvarez.
