Shanghai welcomed approximately 1.85 million primary and secondary school students on Tuesday as the Fall 2026 semester officially got underway. To accommodate the city's growing educational needs, Shanghai has expanded its public education infrastructure with 40 brand-new primary and secondary schools opening their doors for the 2026 academic year.
