Oscar Valdez (MEXICO) vs. Miguel Marriaga (COLOMBIA) | 4K - FULL HIGHLIGHTS #boxing

🥊 FIGHT DESCRIPTION:

Oscar Valdez, 26, of Mexico, delivered a hard-fought victory in the second defense of his world title, overcoming a relentless challenge from dangerous Colombian mandatory challenger Miguel Marriaga, 30, in the main event of Top Rank’s pay-per-view card. Forced to battle through intense pressure and absorb some punishing shots, Valdez faced one of the toughest tests of his career, proving his toughness, heart, and championship grit against an opponent who refused to back down.

Both fighters spent much of the contest trading heavy punches at close range, turning the bout into an explosive, toe-to-toe war filled with nonstop action. Marriaga constantly pushed forward, trying to overwhelm the champion with his aggression, but Valdez answered with sharp counters and determined combinations. Despite taking some solid blows, Valdez stood his ground, matched the challenger’s intensity, and gradually asserted his authority in the ring.

While the official scorecards may have suggested a one-sided contest, the action inside the ring told a much closer story. Marriaga made Valdez work for every advantage, forcing the champion to dig deep and prove he could withstand relentless pressure under fire. But when the defining moment arrived in the 10th round, Valdez delivered a devastating left hook to the head that sent Marriaga crashing to the canvas, emphatically silencing any remaining doubts about who controlled the fight.

The knockdown proved to be a crucial statement from the defending champion, who demonstrated that his power and precision could change the course of a fiercely contested battle in an instant. Marriaga, who fell to 0-2 in featherweight world title fights, fought with tremendous determination but ultimately could not overcome Valdez’s combination of skill, resilience, and fight-ending power.

For Valdez, this was more than just another successful title defense. It was a brutal examination of his championship credentials, forcing him to adapt, absorb punishment, and fight through adversity before delivering a decisive blow. In a high-intensity battle where both men traded fire, Valdez proved his championship mettle by surviving the storm and dropping Marriaga with a vicious 10th-round left hook!
