What does a bone marrow transplant teach us about hope, resilience and being human?

In this deeply moving talk, Dr Nidhi Jain shares what decades of caring for patients have taught her about life beyond medicine.

Through the story of a young patient whose biggest concern during a difficult transplant journey was whether he would one day be able to eat pani puri again, Dr Nidhi reminds us that patients don't simply want to survive, they want to live.

She reflects on the extraordinary resilience she witnesses every day, the role of human connection alongside medical technology, and the power of choosing hope even in the middle of uncertainty.

Because science can rebuild the blood.
But hope rebuilds people. Dr. Nidhi Jain is a Clinical Hematologist, Hemato-Oncologist, and Bone Marrow Transplant Specialist at Zydus Hospitals, Ahmedabad. With advanced training from premier institutions in India and Australia, including PGIMER Chandigarh, KEM Hospital Mumbai, and the Royal Melbourne Hospital & Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, she has dedicated her career to advancing the diagnosis and treatment of complex blood disorders and blood cancers.

Her expertise spans leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, hemoglobinopathies, stem cell transplantation, and precision medicine. Known for combining scientific rigor with compassionate patient care, Dr. Jain is committed to making cutting-edge hematology accessible and impactful. Beyond clinical practice, she actively contributes to medical education, research, and national hematology forums, helping shape the future of blood disorder management in India.
