If you could automate everything in your life, where would you stop? AI strategist and former GTM of OpenAI, Zack Kass introduces the "Automation Boundary," the shifting line between what we hand off to machines and what we keep for ourselves. He argues that while technology should erase the "vicious friction" that causes suffering, our future depends on protecting the "virtuous friction" (struggle, discipline, conflict, and failure) that builds character, capability, and community. Zack Kass is a global AI advisor and the former Head of GTM for OpenAI. Following his experience publicly launching ChatGPT, he now advises Fortune 1000 companies on AI strategy. In addition to his professional roles, he is an Executive-in-Residence at the University of Virginia. Kass recently authored a book The Next RenAIssance detailing the implications of AI on society at-large. As an avid techno-optimist, Kass specializes in rewriting the prevalent dystopian narrative on technology in the media. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
