📚 《서눌(徐訥)》｜고려 전기의 재상, 서희의 아들이자 원목왕후의 아버지


강동 6주를 되찾은 외교가 서희(徐熙).
그의 뒤를 이어 고려 조정의 중심에 선 사람이 있었다.

바로 원숙공(元肅公) 서눌(徐訥).

이천서씨는 고려 전기부터
서신일(徐神逸) → 서필(徐弼) → 서희(徐熙)로 이어지는
삼대 재상의 가문을 이루었고,
그 뒤를 이어 서눌은 문하시중의 자리에 올랐다.

현종·덕종·정종 삼대에 걸쳐 조정의 중추를 지킨 서눌.
아버지 서희의 명성에 가려져 상대적으로 덜 알려졌지만,
그 역시 고려 전기의 정치와 왕실을 지탱했던 중요한 재상이었다.

특히 그의 딸은 훗날 현종의 왕비가 된
원목왕후(元穆王后 徐氏)이다.

《서눌》은 『고려사』와 한국민족문화대백과사전,
그리고 이천서씨 문중의 세계 자료 등을 바탕으로
서눌 개인의 생애뿐 아니라
서신일·서필·서희로 이어지는 가문의 역사와

Seo Hui (徐熙) is remembered as the brilliant diplomat who secured the Six Fortified Settlements east of the Yalu River through negotiation during the Khitan invasion.

But another important figure followed in his footsteps.

His son, Seo Nul (徐訥).

A member of the distinguished Icheon Seo clan, Seo Nul served as a central statesman of Goryeo throughout the reigns of Kings Hyeonjong, Deokjong, and Jeongjong, eventually rising to the highest ministerial position of Munha Sijung.

Compared with his famous father, Seo Nul is relatively less known today.
Yet his career reveals the continuing political influence of the Icheon Seo clan during the formative period of the Goryeo dynasty.

His daughter was also Queen Wonmok (元穆王后 Seo), who became the queen consort of King Hyeonjong.

This book draws upon records from Goryeosa, the Encyclopedia of Korean Culture, and genealogical materials preserved by the Icheon Seo clan.

It explores not only Seo Nul's life, but also the stories of his grandfather Seo Sin-il, father Seo Pil and father Seo Hui, as well as the development of the various Seo clans descended from the Icheon Seo lineage.

To recover one forgotten name
is sometimes to rediscover an entire family—and an entire age.
