President Trump faces mounting pressure as fuel protests spread globally, and the U.S. House initiates a third vote to stop the Iran war.
Our Shin So-eun has the details.

With shipping through the Strait of Hormuz restricted and fuel prices soaring, protests and strikes are spreading across the globe adding pressure on U.S. President Donald Trump over the Iran war.

In southern France, fishermen block a fuel depot and clash with police, demanding relief from rising fuel costs.
Elsewhere, protesters have slowed traffic and blocked highways, while taxi drivers and ride-hailing workers in Vietnam and the Philippines have gone on strike.
The protests show little sign of easing, escalating into widespread unrest, and even fires breaking out.

"The reason for the protest is, most importantly, the increase in diesel and in fuel prices in general The people want, and all those present here want, a reduction in diesel prices. We don't want higher wage; we want cheaper fuel prices. Wages won't benefit us; this is it."

Against that backdrop, the growing dissent on the ongoing US-Iran war persists in Washington, even within Trump's own party.
According to the Wall Street Journal report on Tuesday, Americans are estimated to have spent an additional 107 billion dollars on fuel since the Iran war began in February.
That accounts for more than 500 million dollars a day in extra fuel, according to Brown University researchers and the burden could grow.
Higher diesel prices threaten to push up food costs as harvest season approaches, adding to Trump's political troubles ahead of November's midterm elections.

The U.S. Congress has begun applying political pressure on President Trump.
The Republican-controlled House passed a resolution on Tuesday in its third such vote, with votes 220 to 204, calling on Trump to stop military operations against Iran or seek congressional approval.
The resolution calls for U.S. forces to withdraw from hostilities, while allowing troops to remain to defend American and allied bases in the Middle East.

Although not legally binding, the vote signals growing unease within Trump's own party and mounting pressure for him to seek congressional approval for further combat operations.
