President Lee Jae Myung and the leaders of five Central Asian countries came together for the inaugural Korea-Central Asia Summit here in Seoul today.
The first-ever gathering was aimed at taking ties beyond bilateral cooperation and building a broader partnership between Korea and Central Asia.

All six gathered in Seoul for the inaugural Korea-Central Asia Summit on Wednesday.
"I hope today's meeting will serve as an important milestone as we take a new leap forward.
On behalf of the Korean people, I sincerely welcome you to Korea.
South Korea established diplomatic ties with all five countries in 1992.
After more than three decades of bilateral engagement, President Lee, as chair, said it's time to prepare for the next 30 years by working more closely with Central Asia as a region.
Wednesday's summit led to the adoption of the "Seoul Declaration."
Under which, the six countries agreed to hold the summit every two years, with Kazakhstan set to host the next one.
On the economic front, the leaders signed a memorandum of understanding on industrial and supply chain cooperation, spanning infrastructure, critical minerals, energy and digital transformation.
A ministerial-level consultative mechanism will be launched to bring together Korea's manufacturing capabilities with Central Asia's abundant resources and growing markets.
"The respective strengths of Korea and Central Asia offer enormous opportunities to tackle the challenges facing both sides together."
On security, the five Central Asian nations reaffirmed their commitment to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
They also expressed support for Seoul's efforts to resume dialogue with North Korea through de-escalation and confidence-building measures.
The Blue House says the Korea-Central Asia Summit marks an important step in broadening Seoul's diplomatic reach into Central Asia, a resource-rich region gaining strategic importance as a key link between East and West.
