Bringing the World Home with Tabletop Travels

Travel has the power to inspire, connect and enrich our lives.✈️🌍
But for many people, barriers such as ill health, reduced mobility, anxiety, or isolation can make exploring the world beyond their front door difficult.
Senior Research Associate in the School of Education and Co-founder of Tabletop Travels Dr Tot Foster and Creative Director Rachel Adams share how Tabletop Travels became a social venture, spinning out from the University of Bristol.
Through beautifully packaged travel boxes, Tabletop Travels brings the world into people's homes. Each box contains around ten sensory and cultural items, including food, drink, scents, postcards and crafts, carefully curated by a local artist to create an immersive experience of a European destination.
Today, Tabletop Travels supports people who may not be able to travel, helping them access meaningful cultural experiences that foster wellbeing, confidence and connection.
Made possible through support from ImpactU and The National Lottery, the project demonstrates how university research and innovation can create positive social impact beyond academia.
