Season 2, Episode 4 — we meet the living legend of Korean liquor history: Factory Manager Lee Yong-ik of Citrus Distillery in Jeju.
The man behind Ilpum Jinro and Chamnamutong Malgeun Soju is now brewing citrus spirits on Jeju island. From the legendary story of "smuggling" yeast out of the Jim Beam distillery in Kentucky, to the painful failure of a tourist-sales strategy that nearly broke him — and the day he poured his own savings into the business just to keep it alive. Today, he crafts Shinryemyungju, Hondijoo, and Masyerblanc — three spirits born from forty years of mastery.
"My last dream is to recreate the Elixir — a ginseng spirit blended with whisky, fit for the world." Factory Manager Lee still wanders the slopes of Hallasan, chasing that final vision.
