다양한 목소리로 전하는, 그리운 마음 #ACCART

시 「황매화(山吹)」, 오토모노 야카모치/ 「방인가(防人歌)]」, 하세츠카베노 마마로, 7–8세기
나라 시대 말에 편찬된 일본 최고(最古)의 와카(和歌) 모음집인 『만엽집(萬葉集)』에 수록된 시가이다. 이 단가(短歌)들은 규슈 파견 과정에서 방인과 그 가족들이 지어 부른 노래로, 국가적 동원 체계 속에서 경험한 이별과 이동, 고향에 대한 그리움을 담고 있다. 한편, 『만엽집』에는 오토모노 야카모치의 시가들도 다수 수록되어 있다. 그중 아내를 대신해 야카모치가 지은 장가(長歌)는 누이에게 전하는 그리움의 마음을 황매화에 빗대어 표현하고 있다.

곡 〈위로받은 마음 / 어머니라는 꽃(なぎむ心 / 母とふ花)〉, 켄 우에노
모든 소리를 작곡가가 직접 가창해, 유동하는 다성적 음장(音場)으로 펼쳐내는 8성부 보컬 작업이다. 『만엽집』에 실린 시가를 활용한 이 곡은 확장되거나 수축되는 보컬 텍스처를 통해 그리움을 그려낸다. 보컬 프라이는 매미의 울음소리를 연상시키고, 목 창법은 내면의 성찰을 암시하며, 캐논 형식의 음역 상승은 꽃이 피어나는 모습을 반영한다. 방인가에서 따온 ‘어머니라는 꽃’이라는 구절을 인용한 진혼가(鎮魂歌)가 후반부에 배치되어 앞의 시가와 대구를 이룬다.

POEM "Kerria (山吹)", Ōtomo no Yakamochi/ "Songs of the Frontier Guards (防人歌)", Hasetsukabe no Mamaro, 7th–8th century
Songs of the Frontier Guards is a collection of poems included in the Man'yōshū (萬葉集), the oldest extant anthology of waka poetry (和歌), compiled in the late Nara period. These tanka were composed and sung by frontier guards and their families during their deployment to Kyushu, expressing their sorrow of parting and forced movement, and their longing for home under the state’s military conscription system.

SONG "Nagimu Kokoro / haha to iu hana (なぎむ心 / 母とふ花)", Ken Ueno
This song is an eight-part vocal work in which all sounds are performed by the composer and spatialized into a shifting polyphonic field. Based on a poem known from Man’yōshū, the work traces his longing through expanding and contracting vocal textures. Vocal fry evokes cicadas, throat singing suggests inward reflection, and a canonic ascent of register mirrors blooming flowers.
