A month after the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup games, the Cape Verdean Museum in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, received a special souvenir. It was a piece of turf from the exact spot in the Miami Hard Rock Stadium where Cape Verdean national team player Sidny Lopes Cabral made the dramatic equalizing kick against Argentina in the Round of 32. This video shows how a team of scientists from Brown University partnered with the museum to help dry and process the turf so that it will forever appear like it did on the day of that historic game. The turf is now permanently installed in a special section for visitors to see at the Cape Verdean museum. Video by Oliver Scampoli.
