Canelo Alvarez (MEXICO) vs. Jaime Munguia (MEXICO) | 4K - FULL HIGHLIGHTS #boxing #sports

🥊 FIGHT DESCRIPTION:

Canelo Alvarez entered T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with all four super middleweight world titles on the line and left with his undisputed throne firmly intact. The Mexican superstar dismantled Jaime Munguia’s championship ambitions with a commanding unanimous decision victory, delivering another statement performance that reinforced his dominance over the 168-pound division.

Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs), 33, improved his Cinco de Mayo weekend record to 10-1, with his only defeat coming against Dmitry Bivol in their 2022 showdown for the WBA light heavyweight championship. More importantly, Canelo secured his fourth consecutive defense of the WBC, WBO, IBF, and WBA super middleweight titles, extending his record for the most successful undisputed championship defenses in the four-belt era to four. Once again, the division's biggest star proved that taking his crown would be anything but easy.

Munguia (43-1, 34 KOs), 27, came into the fight fearless, applying pressure and refusing to back down during the opening rounds. But once Alvarez settled into his rhythm, the momentum shifted dramatically. Canelo began finding his targets with precision, ripping punishing combinations, countering Munguia's attacks, and breaking down the younger challenger's resistance. Munguia showed tremendous heart, but his aggression alone wasn't enough to overcome the champion's superior timing, accuracy, experience, and ring intelligence. By the later rounds, Alvarez was dictating the action and making the challenger pay for every mistake.

The defeat snapped Munguia's undefeated professional record after an impressive run that included stoppage victories over eight of his previous 10 opponents, highlighted by a ninth-round TKO of John Ryder in January. Against Canelo, however, he encountered a completely different level of opposition—one that exposed the gap between a dangerous contender and an established pound-for-pound superstar.

The historic showdown also broke new ground in Mexican boxing. For the first time, two Mexican-born fighters squared off for an undisputed championship, marking the first super middleweight title fight between fighters born in Mexico. It also became the first world title bout above 160 pounds to feature two Mexican-born boxers. In a night filled with national pride, history, and championship stakes, Munguia brought the fight, but Canelo brought the experience, precision, and championship pedigree. The night ultimately belonged to Alvarez, who once again stood alone as the undisputed king of the super middleweight division.
