Never Pack A Wheel Bearing Dry!

Why do heavy-duty mechanics slather so much purple grease onto wheel bearings?! 🚛🔧
If you watch a veteran mechanic prep a heavy machinery axle, they almost always pack the wheel bearings completely by hand! Instead of relying on a mechanical grease packer, they use the palm of their bare hand to forcefully push the thick, brightly colored grease directly into the bearing cage until it oozes out.
Mechanics swear by this messy method because it allows them to physically feel when the extreme-pressure lubricant has filled every single microscopic gap inside the steel rollers. Once the bearing is fully packed, they coat the entire metal axle spindle and the inside of the hub housing with the leftover grease to create a permanent, waterproof seal that prevents rust and dissipates massive heat!
