In this incredibly clever shop hack, the mechanic places a metal nut between the two clamp tabs and threads a standard plastic zip tie through the mechanism! By pulling the zip tie tight, it forcefully compresses the spring tabs against the nut, completely expanding the clamp! With the tension released, the mechanic easily pulls the rubber hose off the pipe. To reinstall it, they just slide the hose back on and use pliers to snip the zip tie, instantly locking the clamp securely back into place!
