Chris Hemsworth’s wife, Elsa Pataky, stepped in for Natalie Portman during the final kiss in Thor: The Dark World (2013). Portman was unavailable for the additional filming, so Pataky wore a wig and filled in as Jane Foster. That means this romantic reunion features a real married couple sharing the kiss. (upi.com)
On screen, Thor returns to Jane for a brief, affectionate reunion. Knowing the story behind the scene gives that moment another reason to make you smile. Pataky’s appearance is easy to miss because the scene keeps the focus on the embrace rather than revealing the substitution.
It’s a small production detail that makes a familiar Marvel moment worth watching again. Sometimes the story behind a scene is just as sweet as the scene itself.
