The 1st Nam June Paik Media Arts Festival: Waiting for UFO
The Nam June Paik Media Arts Festival brings Nam June Paik’s artistic spirit into the present. Conceived in the spirit of a Paik-style festival, celebration, and ritual, it connects art and technology, humanity and nature, and the local and the global, while exploring new possibilities for the culture of the future.
Launched in 2026 to mark the 20th anniversary of Nam June Paik’s passing, the festival is the first global media art festival held in his name. Based at the Nam June Paik Art Center and held annually, it aims to serve as an open platform where Nam June Paik’s art encounters contemporary artistic practices, generating new questions, ideas, and forms of experimentation.
