The fight nearly exploded into an early stoppage in the third round when Tellez suffered a brutal accidental headbutt that dropped him and left his nose broken and pouring blood. He used almost the entire five-minute recovery period, but somehow dragged himself back to his feet and chose to fight on.

Tellez was clearly hurting and struggling to breathe, but his corner refused to let him mentally break. Despite the excruciating pain, he returned to battle and tried to fight through the damage.

Mendoza explained that the clash happened as Tellez repeatedly switched positions, creating the accidental collision.

But the injury didn’t stop Tellez from turning the fight around.

With his nose badly damaged, Tellez began finding his range, working behind his jab and steadily piling up rounds. He adjusted his defense, knowing one clean shot to the nose could make the injury even worse. Mendoza answered with a furious late flurry in the sixth, while blood began streaming from his left eye as well.

By the ninth round, **both fighters came out firing**, trading eye-catching shots that sent the crowd into a frenzy. Neither man was willing to give ground during the final rounds, turning the closing stretch into another tense battle for every exchange.
