Distinguishing brain tumors from healthy tissue is one of the greatest challenges in neurosurgery.
Developed by Dr. Todd Hollon and the Machine Learning in Neurosurgery (MLiNS) Lab at the University of Michigan, FastGlioma analyzes microscopic images during surgery to help clinicians identify tumor tissue and determine whether the entire tumor has been removed—all within seconds.
By placing clinicians at the center of artificial intelligence development, U-M researchers are improving surgical precision and working to advance outcomes for patients around the world.
