한국 저수지 어디에나 있는 순한 잉어를 없애려고 국가가 바이러스를 준비해 둔 나라가 있습니다. 호주입니다. 10년 전 예산이 잡혔고 강에 풀 날짜까지 정해졌으며, 실험에서는 감염 잉어의 95%를 죽인 잉어 헤르페스바이러스(CyHV-3)였지만, 방류 결정은 지난 2월 2028년으로 다시 미뤄졌습니다. 머레이-달링 유역에는 학술 추정 2억에서 3억 6,000만 마리의 호주 잉어가 살고, 강에서 건지는 물고기 무게의 80-90%가 잉어입니다. 죽이는 방법은 있는데 왜 10년째 아무도 강에 풀지 못할까요. 답은 잉어가 아니라, 잉어가 죽은 다음에 있습니다.
