April and May are the months for many events like children's day, parents day, buddhas birthday and Tea !
So as a Tea Afficianodo, I looked up for the first Tea Festival and it happened in the famous Tea Area of Boseong in the Region of Jeolloanam-Do.
On April 29 ~ 30, 2023 I went with my friends to the Boseong Green Tea Festival or "Boseong Aromatic Tea Festival 2023" and explored all the event site and facilities.
From seeing vast fields of Green Tea, or fun spots like Tea Field glamping, we did the obligatory visit of the Boseong Tea Museum with its Various Tea Rooms from China, Japan and Great Britain.
I blended my own tea for well -being and put on costumers / outfits from various countries.
Next to a Tea Foot bath, which is unfortunately not presented here..
We could do the Tea Leaf picking -experience and carry our own tea home.
(I actually pan-fried my tea at home.. and enjoy it now in my cup of tea ^^)
For a price of 20,000 Won, I could do a tea roasting experience with a team of Boseong Citizens. A famous tea master checked my tea roasting skill.. while some employees from the Boseong-Gun Government helped me to roll & roast the tea.
Well, I guess this really means, the Boseong people are well expertised in Tea ^^.
It was definitely worth visiting and the time was as usual too short.
Various Tea booths provided tea for tasting while Large, beautiful stones and rocks were on display next to the Bonsai -tree collection.
The major Stage provided Tea Mixing competitions or Tea Cocktail making and other performances, while the various Tea Farmers from Boseong and Tea Potters were having their booths outside the Festival Zone.
I recommend you to visit the Boseong Tea Plantation any time for the fabulous view of endless Tea Fields and get a taste of the refreshing Green Tea.
A note from Visit Korea Page:
"Boseong is considered the birthplace of the commercial tea industry and is the largest producer of tea in the country. At the Boseong Aromatic Tea Festival, some of the most popular festival events are the hands-on experience programs such as picking tea leaves, making tea, and sampling green tea snacks. Other events such as the tea exhibition & sales, and a number of celebratory performances are also scheduled to be held during the festival period."
