When Michael Caine Got John Wayne’s Priceless Advice

Michael Caine shared a hilarious story about the first time he ever visited America and met Western legend John Wayne at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 1966. Sitting alone in the hotel lobby following his breakout role in Alfie, Caine was stunned when Wayne arrived in a helicopter, spotted him in the corner, and predicted he was going to be a huge star. The Hollywood icon then offered young Caine a bizarre piece of advice: never wear suede shoes. Wayne explained that once he became famous, a fan standing next to him at a public urinal would inevitably recognize him, turn around in shock to yell his name, and accidentally pee all over his footwear. Seeing John Wayne warn a young Michael Caine about the unexpected hazards of fame in a public bathroom is pure gold. #michaelcaine #alfie #johnwayne #hollywood #suedeshoes #behindthescenes #funny #viral #funnymoments #shorts #comedy #interview #latenight #celebritystories
