How Pixar Made Russell From Up Sound So Real

Pete Docter revealed a hilarious behind-the-scenes moment from recording Pixar's 2009 animated hit Up with young voice actor Jordan Nagai. To make the child's voice sound authentically breathless and full of genuine kid energy for his character Russell, Pete needed a creative directing trick. Right before recording a scene about taking care of a pet, Pete instructed Jordan to sprint to the back of the room and run around a foosball table three times as fast as he could. Jordan eagerly zoomed around the table, rushed back to the microphone completely out of breath, and rattled off his lines about feeding and walking the pet perfectly. Seeing young Jordan Nagai sprint around a foosball table just to deliver an authentically breathless voice line is pure gold. #petedocter #jordannagai #up #pixar #voiceacting #behindthescenes #funny #viral #funnymoments #shorts #comedy #interview #latenight #celebritystories
