Potala Palace | Episode 4: Setting the Record Straight

With the introduction of its amban system, which saw imperial officials stationed in Xizang, the Qing central government placed Xizang under a more institutionalized framework, with the seventh Dalai Lama becoming the first to formally hold religious and political authority.

Drawing on Qing archives and edicts, this episode of "Potala Palace" reconstructs the reforms carried out after Kangxi Emperor's suppression of the Dzungar forces. It examines how the central government strengthened its administration of Xizang while highlighting the era's political, religious and social transformations.
