Scientists Are Bringing Back the Moa - A Giant Extinct Bird

Scientists plan to bring back one of the largest birds ever to walk the Earth, and the project is already turning heads around the world. After creating a version of the dire wolf earlier this year, Colossal Biosciences is now targeting the giant moa, a flightless bird that once stood nearly 11 feet tall in New Zealand. The moa vanished about 600 years ago, but advances in genetics, ancient DNA research, and de-extinction technology could give this prehistoric giant a second chance. Supporters call it a breakthrough for science and conservation, while critics warn that bringing extinct species back could create unpredictable challenges. This incredible story explores the race to revive a lost giant and what it could mean for the future of wildlife, biotechnology, and our understanding of extinction itself.
