Shanghai's first cross-Yangtze River metro line starts testing at speeds of up to 120 km/h

Shanghai’s first rail transit line to cross the Yangtze River, Metro Line 22, also known as the Chongming Line started full-scale on-track commissioning on Wednesday.
The 44-kilometer line will connect Shanghai's Pudong district with Chongming Island, China's third-largest island, closer to Shanghai’s urban center, improve regional transport links.
It is expected to begin operations by the end of 2026.
