An incredible wildlife rescue unfolded near Swinoujscie, Poland, when a young white-tailed eagle became trapped in thick coastal mud and was unable to escape.

Nature photographer Krzysztof Chomicz stepped in to help after other attempts to retrieve the stranded bird had failed.

With assistance from local firefighters, Chomicz secured himself to a rope connected to dry land and began crawling through the deep, sticky mud toward the distressed eagle.

The dramatic rescue, captured by a drone, shows the incredible effort required to reach the helpless bird.

Despite being attacked on his arm and leg by the frightened eagle, Chomicz refused to give up. He carefully secured the bird and managed to carry it back to safety.

The eagle, later named Icarus, was taken into the care of wildlife conservation workers, who cleaned and cared for it before transferring it to a wildlife refuge in Szczecin.

Experts believed the eagle was approximately six months old and that the flight that ended in the mud may have been its very first.

Remarkably, this wasn't Chomicz's first eagle rescue. The dedicated photographer had previously saved another white-tailed eagle trapped in mud near the same area.

His extraordinary determination and compassion gave this young eagle another chance at life! 🦅
