Attorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian follow the fallout around Alina Habba Mildon, President Trump’s former personal lawyer and former acting U.S. attorney for New Jersey, and her new husband, Turkish businessman Turhan Mildon. Speaking at Mar-a-Lago, Trump called her reported $50 million-plus Concord Partners contract, backed by the family of pardoned Venezuelan banker Julio Herrera Velutini, “totally obnoxious and outrageous” and said, “I told her I don’t want her paid.” According to The New York Times, as relayed by other outlets, Trump privately suggested she donate part of the money to his future presidential library and that the family not pay the rest. The hosts read his anger as being about not getting a cut. Habba Mildon says she was never paid for a pardon, and a White House official says she had no role in the pardon process. The hosts then turn to Mildon himself, who they say told Forbes his businesses are worth $2.6 billion. Middle East Eye, citing UK company records, puts his birth in December 2000, which would make him 25, not the 29 he and most coverage use. Reports say he was previously married to the daughter of a Turkish builder close to President Erdogan, divorced in 2024, and later dated the daughter of a Venezuelan admiral close to Nicolás Maduro. His company’s Venezuelan cement-factory contract reportedly received a termination notice on October 8, and reports of unpaid contractors are disputed, with Mildon denying he owes money. He also reportedly won a drone-base contract of roughly $67 million in Congo, and the hosts note there is little reported progress on it and repeat the report that the $17.6 million in the Kennedy Center dispute came from a Congolese government account. Mildon has said the marriage has no political motivation. Brian’s bottom line: when a pay-for-play story’s angriest player is upset about who did not get paid, the public should ask who is really paying whom.
