We spend around 70% of our time at home. It's where we sleep, eat and breathe, which means our homes are shaping our health every day, for better or worse.

Rent hikes, heatwaves, floods, mould and cold living rooms can all affect our physical and mental health. Researchers say this is a public health issue, and that policy can change it.

In this episode of Health Desk, three leading researchers from the University of Melbourne explain how housing affordability affects mental health, why your postcode can determine how safe you are in a heatwave or flood, and how your home can cause, trigger or worsen illness.
