The new Steam Controller is essentially a bizarro speaker strapped to a high end gamepad - and someone just figured out how to let people FEEL sounds through it
An open-source tool that translates all PC audio to be hearable through vibrations from the things’ haptic motors now works on Linux AND Windows - so it’ll even work on the homelab we build in THIS video
It’s called LiveHaptics - and the dev going by FamBoy32 used the EXISTING software people were using to play music files over their Steam Controllers to make it essentially just do that CONSTANTLY for EVERYTHING
And sure – it’s a novelty for most people, but imagine the opportunities for accessibility options for deaf gamers that’d let them experience game sounds to some degree
