Meet PKU's newest table tennis champion. 🤖
At the 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, a fully autonomous humanoid robot developed by a joint team from Peking University and BAAI claimed the table tennis championship.
Behind the performance is SpikePingpong, launched in 2024 by a team led by Professor Huang Tiejun 黄铁军 from PKU's School of Computer Science. Combining high speed event based vision with imitation learning, the system enables the robot to track fast moving balls and predict the ball racket contact point with millimeter level precision.
