✨Nocturnal wonderland! Shanghai’s districts battle in epic International Light Festival

The 3rd Shanghai International Light Festival runs from September 17 to October 16, featuring 158 themed events across 17 venues citywide.

Huangpu District, as the main venue, hosts a large-scale projection show on the historic Shanghai Concert Hall and a light corridor at Yanzhong Green Space, with 24 installations including the popular "Night Heron" father-and-son light figures.

In addition to Huangpu District, 16 other sub-venues across Shanghai are offering a diverse range of spectacular experiences, allowing residents to visit at staggered times.

Xuhui District centers on the West Bund waterfront and Xujiahui commercial area.

It features a large-scale projection show on repurposed oil tanks, a laser installation in the reed marshes, a mechanical light performance in the shipyard, and interactive light displays integrated into the Xujiahui shopping district.

Jing'an District has turned Jing'an Park into the city center's first light-art park, with installations like the "Urban Healer" and "Wish Tree," alongside creative "keys" linking the Nanjing West Road, Suhewan, and Daning commercial zones.

Putuo District features Shanghai's first large-scale floating water light installation, "Cone Light," a diamond-shaped structure suspended above the water, paired with a music fountain show at TOP Central Park.

The 3rd Shanghai International Light Festival runs through October 16.

With light installations spanning commercial districts, parks and waterfronts, the event is expected to boost night-time consumption and cultural tourism, giving residents and visitors more reasons to explore Shanghai after dark.
