Old School Runescape’s fallen angel developer just got caught stealing nearly half a million US dollars worth of GP from ACTUAL players
It’s been rumored for a while now - but Andrew Lakeman, AKA Mod Jed’s been proven to have involvement in an OSRS account recovery swindle that’d leave players without certain high ticket items and in-game gold
The game’s dev team conducted a full internal investigation by adjusting their account recovery process and following a breadcrumb trail that led all the way back to Jed and 400 THOUSAND clams of potentially stolen clams from sketchy third party sales of in-game goods
He was arrested in 2019, but wound up just doing a bunch of unpaid labor and going to rehab until very recently when the Cambridge Crown Court hit him with a three-year prison sentence that he won’t even serve until two years from now
