Wait - you’re telling me a multi-TRILLION dollar company does shady stuff sometimes?
Amazon’s being sued by 22 states AND the FTC for manipulating advertising auctions for space on their platforms
While it’s still ongoing - a whole lot of people are accusing the bidding wars for these things to be pretty heavily artificially inflated by the Bezos company’s price overrides and overall nasty tactics that boost their profits
The FTC specifically claims to have some sort of internal documentation of the practices that’ve been rumored to have started all the way back in 2019, which was 7 years ago now
We’re looking at a total of around 20 BILLION US dollars Amazon’s potentially profited from this scheme, although they themselves call the claim quote “patently false” and “cherry picked”
