청조갤러리 3관에서는 이배 작가의 근원을 담아낸 영상·설치 공간 을 선보입니다. 작가는 자신의 정체성을 형성한 고향 청도의 흙을 미술관으로 옮겨와 논의 형태를 만들고, 그 위에 일주일간의 퍼포먼스를 담은 거대한 영상 작품을 설치했습니다. ‘그림을 그리는 일을 마치 농사짓는 것처럼’ 임해온 작가는 가상의 이미지와 고향의 실재하는 흙을 교차시키며 생명의 생성과 소멸을 보여줍니다. 실제 흙 위에서 풀이 자라나고 변해가는 과정이 담겨 있어, 12월 전시 종료까지 계절에 따라 달라지는 공간의 시간을 경험하실 수 있습니다.

Cheongjo Gallery 3 presents 'Becoming', a video and installation space that explores Lee Bae’s artistic roots. The artist brought real soil from his hometown of Cheongdo into the gallery to recreate a rice paddy, paired with a large-scale video documenting a brushstroke performance. Approaching art-making much like farming, Lee Bae intersects virtual imagery with the tangible earth to reveal cycles of life and passage of time. As living grass sprouts and shifts over time, visitors can witness the space transform across the seasons through December.
