UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has marked the 35th anniversary of South and North Korea's simultaneous admission to the United Nations with a message of peace.
In a post on X on Thursday, Guterres said he wished for lasting peace and prosperity for people across the Korean Peninsula.
South Korea's mission to the UN also called the joint accession a milestone, saying its spirit should be revived through dialogue and communication.
The two Koreas joined the UN together on September 17th, 1991, during the 46th UN General Assembly.
Since joining, South Korea has expanded its role at the UN, including serving three terms as a non-permanent member of the Security Council.
