China speeds up construction of national loop highway

China is accelerating the construction of three national highways that will be linked end-to-end over the course of the next five years to form the "golden outer ring", an ultra-long loop running along the country's borders and coastline.

During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the construction and renovation of the "golden outer ring" is expected to cover 7,400 kilometers of roadways, with an investment of about 55 billion US dollars.
