China ships 153 turbine blades to India, setting single-vessel export record

A cargo vessel loaded with 153 giant wind turbine blades departed Yangzhou Port on October 23 for Kandla Port, India, establishing a new record-high single-vessel export volume for wind equipment at the port. Comprising 51 complete sets, each blade measures 75 meters in length, with the total shipment volume reaching 168,600 cubic meters. To overcome the complex technical logistics of high-density stacking for long-haul maritime transport, Yangzhou Port engineered a specialized seven-layer staggered stacking process to maximize deck space while ensuring structural stability and round-the-clock safety monitoring.

In close coordination with local customs, maritime, border inspection, and pilotage authorities, the port instituted a green channel enabling zero-delay berthing and departure workflows. Over an 89-hour continuous loading operation, operational efficiency surged by 13.3 percent. Leveraging its strategic inland-to-maritime location and robust green energy supply chain, Yangzhou Port has cemented its standing as China's premier wind equipment export hub, with total wind export volumes surpassing 15 million cubic meters by September. From January to September, the port recorded year-on-year growth of 53.2 percent in wind blade handling and 380.31 percent in tower equipment handling. Looking ahead to the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Yangzhou Port aims to expand operational capacity and establish a first-class multimodal logistics hub along the north bank of the Yangtze River.
