A new academic year, a new chapter at Yanyuan.
On September 4, Peking University welcomed students and faculty to the opening ceremony for the 2026-27 academic year at the Wu-si Sports Field 五四体育场.
From an undergraduate freshman inspired by PKU's support for his hometown, to a PhD student continuing her research journey into her eighth year at Yanyuan, and a professor sharing lessons from his own journey from student to teacher, three voices reflected on what it means to begin anew at PKU.
In his address, PKU President Gao Song 高松 invited students to reflect on three questions: What is the purpose of education? How should knowledge be pursued? Where should we set our sights?
As new students donned their PKU lapel pins and joined generations of PKUers, the 2026-27 academic year officially began.
