How Shanghai is powering the 9th CIIE with 100% renewable electricity and AI-driven smart grid tech

The upcoming 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) will run entirely on 100% green electricity for the fourth consecutive year. Every kilowatt-hour used to power the massive event will come from clean, coal-free sources like wind and solar energy. To achieve this, Shanghai pooled millions of kilowatt-hours from local grids and other provinces, supported by a green energy market that has broken trading records this year.

The city also partnered with nearby Anhui province to share clean energy storage, replacing about 300,000 kilowatts of coal-fired electricity.

Inside and outside the venue, AI system and smart sensors automatically monitor outside power lines and equipment.

Scheduled to be held from November 5 to 10, CIIE exceeds 440,000 square meters with participation from 162 countries, regions and organizations.
