What is the psychology behind risk-taking and why is stepping outside our comfort zone key to personal growth? Drawing on psychological research and real-world examples, this young speaker examines how personality, peer influence and brain development shape our willingness to take risks, particularly during adolescence.
Belle highlights how meaningful risks can build confidence, resilience, and self-discovery, distinguishing between reckless impulsivity and calculated decision-making. Through personal reflection and scientific insight, she encourages us to embrace uncertainty, learn from failure, and recognise that growth often begins at the edge of discomfort.  ‘The Joy of Risk’.
Belle loves to push herself beyond her comfort zone, whether through learning an extra language or researching science beyond the classroom. A regular participant in academic enrichment activities, she is also a keen lacrosse player and a key member of the school choir and rock band, regularly performing in concerts. She enjoys listening to music and watching classic films, recently creating a podcast on Charlie Chaplin.
