In Landman Season 2 Episode 8, Tommy finally understands the trap M-Tex is caught in.
After hearing Gallino explain the situation, Tommy has to admit that if he were in Gallino’s position, he probably would have written the same kind of contract. Gallino also points out the real weakness Monty left behind: Monty knew how to run M-Tex, but he never truly prepared the company for what would happen if he suddenly died.
Now Monty is gone.
Cami wants to prove herself.
Tommy wants to save the company.
Gallino only has to wait for them to choose.
On the flight home, Tommy notices something is wrong between Rebecca and Charlie. Rebecca finally admits that what hurt her most was not just Charlie interfering with Cami’s decision. It was that Charlie was right. Rebecca controls everything, and when people do not follow her way, she cuts them off.
Back at home, Tommy finds a completely different scene from the morning.
T.L., who earlier could not even stand up in the pool, is now back in the water — but this time, Cheyenne is helping him with aquatherapy. What began as a humiliating symbol of aging becomes a place where he can start moving again.
Then Angela brings her own surprise.
Tommy gave her $10,000 to take the nursing home residents out for a fun day. She comes back with $317,622.68 in casino winnings.
Suddenly, Tommy realizes everyone is gambling.
Cami is risking $400 million on a natural gas project with only a small chance of success. Angela turned ten thousand dollars into a fortune. Rebecca lost a relationship because she could not give up control. And Tommy is gambling his entire career on whether M-Tex can still be saved.
