Misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) by students in schools is driven by three things: lack of literacy skills; lack of time to develop them; and fear of failing. How artificial intelligence is transforming learning and what educators, students, and parents need to know to stay ahead. Dr. Peter Denton has spent more than three decades examining the relationship between technology, ethics and the societies that create them. His unusually interdisciplinary career spans history, philosophy, religion, science and technology studies, sustainability and education. He holds five degrees, is an ordained United Church minister, has taught at institutions including the University of Winnipeg, University of Manitoba and Royal Military College of Canada, and is the author or editor of several books on technology, sustainability and society.

Denton has also been involved with UN Environment since 2012 and contributed to the Global Environment Outlook's North American assessment. Across his teaching and writing, a frequent idea is that technology is never just a collection of tools: people decide what to build, how to use it and what values those choices embody.
