Dr. Azad's talk addresses the anxiety surrounding artificial intelligence by challenging the notion that technology will lead to mass unemployment. He argues that critics often commit the "Unbundling Fallacy," wrongly assuming that a profession is merely a collection of isolated tasks that machines can easily replicate. Instead, he highlights that in real life there are "messy jobs" which require human elements like accountability, empathy, and judgment, which remain beyond the reach of algorithms. Dr. Bijan Azad is Professor of Innovation and Strategy at the Olayan School of Business (OSB), American University of Beirut and the Director of Darwazah Center for Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship.
