이번 『임계화첩 제45집』은 서울 강서구에 위치한 서울식물원의 다양한 식물들과 용인 탄천변 산책길에서 만난 들풀들을 중심으로 엮었습니다. 서울식물원에서는 식물 하나하나가 지닌 생명감과 아름다움을 천천히 관찰하며 마음에 담았고, 그 인상과 감흥을 화첩 위에 다시 풀어내고자 하였습니다. 용인 탄천변에서는 계절을 따라 피어난 들풀과 야생화의 생동감을 즉흥적인 필선으로 기록하였습니다. 이번 화첩에 담긴 그림들은 눈앞의 대상을 있는 그대로 재현하기보다, 자연을 바라보며 인식한 형상과 그 순간의 감성이 어우러져 표현된 작업들입니다. 형태를 단순히 옮기는 데 머무르지 않고, 자연과 교감하며 마음속에 남은 울림을 수묵의 필선으로 담아내고자 하였습니다. 이 화첩이 식물을 바라보는 또 하나의 시선이 되고, 자연을 느끼며 그림으로 이어가는 작은 여정이 되기를 바랍니다. 감상해 주셔서 감사합니다.

This volume of Limgye Sketch Journal No. 45 brings together studies of a wide variety of plants from Seoul Botanic Park in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, along with wildflowers discovered while walking the Tancheon riverside in Yongin.
At Seoul Botanic Park, rather than sketching on site, I spent time quietly observing each plant, taking in its vitality and beauty, and carrying those impressions with me. The drawings in this journal grew from those memories and emotional responses. Along the Tancheon riverside in Yongin, I captured the vitality of seasonal wildflowers and grasses with spontaneous brushstrokes.
The works in this journal are not intended to reproduce nature exactly as it appears. Instead, they express the forms I perceived and the emotions I experienced while engaging with the natural world. Rather than simply recording outward appearances, I sought to convey the lingering resonance of those encounters through the expressive language of ink.
I hope this journal offers another way of seeing plants and invites you to enjoy a quiet journey from nature to painting.
