"Peking University × Humboldt University" 40 Years of Partnership | PKU Events

For four decades, Peking University and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin have been building connections through academic exchange, research collaboration, and student mobility.
On September 10, the two universities celebrated the 40th anniversary of their partnership in Beijing with Humboldt University Day at Peking University. Humboldt University President Julia von Blumenthal visited PKU with a delegation of university leaders and scholars. PKU Council Chair He Guangcai 何光彩 and President Gao Song 高松 met with the delegation, exchanging views on the future of the two universities' partnership and opportunities for deeper collaboration in research, education, and student exchange.
During the anniversary events, the two universities renewed their Memorandum of Understanding and Student Exchange Agreement and awarded certificates to the first five projects supported by their joint Flexible Research Fund. The selected projects span digital education, international law, physics, psychology, classical studies, and other fields, reflecting the breadth of academic collaboration between the two institutions.
President von Blumenthal also delivered a keynote speech on Humboldt's educational ideals, discussing academic freedom, basic research, interdisciplinary collaboration, AI, and the role of universities in society.
After 40 years of cooperation, the two universities continue to explore new ways to learn from one another, deepen academic collaboration, and work together toward the future.
