Soft robots have wide-ranging applications such as in surgery, eldercare, rehabilitation, underwater exploration and environmental monitoring, thanks to their gentle, flexible bodies. But that same softness makes them hard to control. Professor Cecilia Laschi and her team at NUS Mechanical Engineering in the NUS College of Design and Engineering are developing new ways to make soft robots smarter and more reliable. #NUSResearch
Taking inspiration from the fluid, intelligent movement of the octopus, the team is translating nature's ingenuity into more adaptable robots. With AI, these robots can learn how their soft bodies behave, enabling more precise movements and safer interactions. #NUSInnovation
Prof Laschi envisions a future where soft robots are so seamlessly woven into our everyday lives that you hardly notice them, quietly making the world around us safer and smoother. #NUSImpact
